Two of Southeast Asia's most rewarding countries in one journey — Bangkok's golden temples and street food, Chiang Mai's mountain culture and elephant sanctuaries, then across into Cambodia for the temples of Angkor and the sobering history of Phnom Penh. Eleven days that cover the best of both.
Arrive in Bangkok. Welcome dinner and briefing this evening.
Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho — Bangkok's spectacular royal and religious heart. Canal longtail boat tour in the afternoon. Evening at leisure.
Fly to Chiang Mai and explore the Old City temples. Evening cooking class with a local chef.
Full day at a responsible elephant sanctuary in the forests around Chiang Mai. Feed, bathe and walk with rescued elephants in their natural habitat.
Fly to Siem Reap — the gateway to Angkor. Afternoon visit to the Angkor National Museum to prepare for the temples ahead. Evening exploring Pub Street and the vibrant night market.
Pre-dawn start to watch sunrise over Angkor Wat — the moment when the towers emerge from darkness against a pink and gold sky is one of the world's great sights. Spend the morning exploring the temple in full with our guide. After lunch, visit the walled city of Angkor Thom and the Bayon — its towers carved with 216 serene stone faces.
Morning at Ta Prohm — the "jungle temple" where strangler figs and silk-cotton trees have reclaimed the stone, their roots wrapped around doorways and towers. Afternoon at Banteay Srei — the "Citadel of Women", a 10th-century temple carved in exquisite rose-pink sandstone.
Morning flight to Phnom Penh — Cambodia's capital on the Mekong River. Afternoon at the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. This evening, a farewell dinner on a boat on the Tonle Sap River as the city lights reflect on the water.
A difficult but essential morning — visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21 Prison) and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. These are sobering places that bear witness to Cambodia's darkest chapter. Our guide provides thoughtful context throughout. Afternoon at leisure in Phnom Penh's vibrant markets.
Final morning in Phnom Penh. Transfer to Phnom Penh International Airport for your onward flight home.
Our team has led small-group adventures across Asia, East Africa, the Caucasus and South America since 2006. We know the routes we run inside out — and we run them personally.
Never more than 10 people on this tour. Small groups move differently — you get into places larger groups can't, spend more time in the moment and actually get to know the people you're travelling with.
You book your own flights, so you have full flexibility over your dates, airline and route. We're always happy to advise on the best connections — just ask when you enquire.
No booking engine. Enquire and our team will be in touch within 24 hours to discuss everything personally — and to tailor the trip around your schedule and what matters most to you.
